Some of the time, I'll just take a cloth or two out of the room for in case I need to change her. But, it's been working out that their naps correspond lately. If I do have to change her and he's in there sleeping, he's quite a sound sleeper so I go in anyway.
I think it's all going to depend on the kids and what works best for them!
There is about a 10 foot hallway btwn their rooms. I have a trash can with a pail liner in the hall way. I keep DDs diapers at her changing table with wipes etc. I keep some diapers on a shelf in the living room for DS and some sposie wipes (I like cloth for DD but not DS). I change him on the floor and go to bathroom to dump which is close to the pail too.
I changed him on his dress with a changing pad until I was too big to lift him up there while pg. I transitioned to his floor and then moved the pad over to DDs room for when she arrived. Its worked well.
