We honored my mother and DH's mother in DD's name. With the second baby I would really like to honor my dad "Kent."
I was thinking Kendra, Kendal, Kennedy, Kenley. But I heard the name Kendalyn the other day and fell in love.
Opinions on Kendalyn- too made up? Are you in love just as much as me?
Any boy suggestions? I don't want to name him Kent, just something similar sounding.
Re: Kendalyn
not a fan of Kendalyn.
Kendall, Kendra, and Kennedy are better choices.
I searched "Starts with KEN" on nameberry and it came up with (to name a few)
Girls:
Kensington (if you don't find that pretentious)
Kenna
Boys:
Kenan
Kendrick
Kenneth
Kenton
Too made up sounding for me, as if someone like Gwendolyn but decided to use a K instead. What about Kendra Lynn (FN and MN)?
For a boy, Ken is the nn for Kenneth, Kendall, Kendrick, Kennedy, Kenton, and Kenyon.
Or maybe use your dad's MN or perhaps your maiden name
Makes me think of "gwendolyn" but I don't think it's awful or anything. What would her nn be? Keni? I think that's cute.
How about Makenna?
NN would be Kendi
I hadn't thought of Makenna.

This!
Kendalyn does sound a bit too made up for my personal taste. I like the earlier suggestion of Makenna. I've also heard of Laken and Anniken for girls (although the second might be a bit too "Star Wars" now).
I love Kenneth for a boy. Other suggestions - Kenan, Kenton

Kendalyn isn't that bad. It does sound kind of 'made up', but I suppose all names sound made up the first time I hear them.
To honor your dad, what about Trent? My cousins little boy is named Trent and it's so cute on him.
I like Kendra for a girl and Kenton for a boy.
I can't say I like Kendalyn at all. Yes, it does sound made up. Suggestions, you ask?
Kenna - it's Gaelic
Kina - Hebrew
*sigh* Never mind. I guess all "Ken" names sound made up on girls. Maybe you can't avoid it in this instance. I can't say I'm a fan of Kennedy, but I think I'd prefer it here. I also don't like Kendra, but I'd prefer it as well.

Ditto. I'm not wild about naming girls after male relatives or vice-versa because I do think sometimes you end up stretching a bit too much to make it work. Could you honor him with her MN instead?
Dislike Kendalyn. Kendra is pretty.
Kennedy for a girl and a first name at that I HATE. HATE.
What about Larken? I have always liked that with a pretty middle name.
For a boy Kenton is nice.

Kinda made-up/trendy, which I dont totally hate but this name doesnt sit right with me for whatever reason....
But here's some other suggestions that come to mind that you might like that are sort of the same taste?
Kensington
Kenzie
Kenley
What about Kent for a middle name for either?
Not much of an honor if you want to use a different name. The honoring part comes from using that name. In my opinion.
