hello to all,
i am 37 weeks today with GD. my doc is going to schedule an induction at 39 weeks on monday. I have a questions for those who are pregnant with GD? what was your LO's weight at last growth ultrasound? also for those who have delivered what weight were your babies born at? at my 34 week ultrasound he was at 5lbs 13oz. little scared about how big he will be at birth. TIA...
Re: ? for mothers with GD and those who have given birth
I had my son at 38 weeks and he weighed 8 lbs 8 oz (I believe he was 8 lbs at the u/s the week before).
I had my daughter at 38 weeks (on Thursday) and she was 9 lbs 13.5 oz. I technically did not have GD this time. She was 8 lbs 3 oz last week on u/s.
I had c/s with both.
I just had my 3rd scan today. He measured 8 pounds 9 ounces and his belly measured in the 97%. We decided a c-section would be the safest route. At the scan 2 weeks ago he measured 7.5 pounds and 95% percentile and the one 2 weeks before that 5.5 pounds and 94%. The weight estimate can be off by a pound or two, but he's consistently measured very broad and there's just too big of a risk of him getting stuck. So I'm having a c-section on Monday. I also have PIH, so that was another factor for inducing at exactly 39 weeks, but I definitely was not going to make it to/past 40 weeks with the GD to start with.
I've read most offices induce at 39 weeks with GD, even if LO is not measuring huge, just to avoid the extra complications that come with GD. My office seems a little different and couldn't even induce me with PIH until 39 weeks. So maybe his size isn't the main concern for your OB.
I think if your OB is very concerned about him measuring large he would order another growth scan, because if he's measuring very broad like mine then it might not be wise to even try a vaginal birth.
My LO was predicted to be 8 lbs at the last growth ultrasound, which was several weeks before I delivered.
She was born at 7 lbs 3 oz. Just perfect.
It was always her belly that measured big, and I am not sure what the reason for this was, but it threw off the entire calculations.
