Well this isn't really a "fun" way to announce but I am about 8 weeks pregnant and went to my first appt today, only it didn't turn out to be my first appt at all... I went to Katy Memorial Hermann (OGA) and waited about 40 minutes until they called me back to the exam room and then another 30 minutes until I finally just had to leave to go to work and was unable to even have an appt. I was so disappointed that I wasn't even able to have my pregnancy confirmed by the doctor. I wasn't the only patient who had been waiting a long time either. As I was leaving, the doctor said "I was just about to come back there" uh huh sure is all I was thinking! So please recommend an awesome ob/gyn in the Katy area!! (side note, I prefer females)
Re: OB/GYN Rec in Katy
I just switched to Dr. Gogola at Greater Houston OBGYN. He's obviously a male, but he is amazing. I have a history of loss and he's been amazing at listening to me, caring for me and making sure that everything is going as well as it can with this pg. I was told by my old Dr that this pregnancy wasn't a viable pregnancy and to expect another loss. And you can see from my ticker that I'm creeping up on 12 weeks.
His phone nurse Cathy is amazing too. She called me at 730 on a Friday night at the very beginning of my pregnancy just to make sure I was ok.
There are a few other nesties around here that see him (and they were the reason that I switched to him) so you'll hear lots of glowing reviews.
Oh wow, that made me tear up a little bit about you being told your pregnancy wasn't a viable one and then obviously it was! I guess I'm not opposed to male doctors I just have never been to one and it makes me feel uncomfortable, I just don't know how I feel about them!
April was the nurse for my old doctor. She is amazing!! I love her and honestly her leaving contributed to me leaving my old doctor.
Ditto the above. They only one I would absolutely refuse from that practice is Dr. Andrews. She was the Dr. on the morning after my C/S and she couldn't have been much more rude, abrupt, or rough. I'm just glad I was still numb down below when she checked me otherwise I probably would have had to smack her upside the head. She was also suppose to be the Dr. there to check me out to leave, but luckily Dr. Schmidt arrived in time. I was already arguing with the nurse that I refused to let Dr. Andrews near me again.
She's awesome! I'm about 100% sure she got tired of my ridiculous questions I asked. I made her hold my hand when I got my IUD in and asked 100000 million times if it was going to hurt! HAHA
I am going to OGA this week for my first appointment. Hopefully the wait isn't that long! I know that they each deliver their own patients babies, so that might have been the reason for the wait. But, if that is the case, they should have told you!
Honestly, they were the only Katy dr.s office out of 5 that would take me. Most of them were either full for the month that I was due or did not allow children at the office. I have two young children, only one of which is in MDO. So, that wasn't an option for me.
Hopefully, you find one that you love!
