Baby on the way and no job...

I'm about 6 1/2 weeks along now and had my first taste of nausea. Apparently pork sausage and I are now enemies. But spicy food and I have began a new and most active romance. I think about it constantly! I haven't had too much trouble with morning sickness but am so frigign' tired all the time! I got laid-off from my job and am having a difficult time finding work. It is so scary to be without a job and pregnant. Luckily my husband has a great job but it's not enough for me not to work. I really hope that I find something before I start to show! Actually, I'm bloated so badly right now I look 5-6 months along already! Any advice?

Re: Baby on the way and no job...

  • First of all Congrats :)

Sounds cliche- but everything will work out.  I was laid off at 37 weeks and thought it was the worst thing in the entire world.  Ended up being a blessing.  I have been home with my daughter ever since.  Has it been tough finanically?  Yes.  Have we made it work?  Yes.

Do not stress out too much it is not good for you or the baby!  Are you getting unemployment?

There are options out there and you will be fine.  Rest and look at all of your options- cutting costs, part time job, seasonal job, etc.

    Good luck.

  • Congrats on your pregnancy! I've seen a lot of seasonal stuff like pp said if you're open to that, it would at least be something for right now (& if you work some place that's baby/child or mom oriented the discounts wouldn't hurt) before starting my career I always tried to work some place that I would shop. Not sure what field you're in. I'm sure everything will work out. Try to rest when you can - the first trimester was the most tiring. Things should pick up in the second! I would suggest acupuncture for the nausea/energy/overall pregnancy s/s. good luck with everything!

  • You're right...I need to stop stressing out! My most important task right now is having a healthy pregnancy. I'm sure everything will work out but let me just tell you...this year has been the biggest rollercoaster! I mean huge! I am craving normal life so badly! I am collecting unemployment and am applying for jobs. We just live in a rural area so I'm up against quite a few applicants all the time. But it might not be the worst thing to be at home during the first trimester. Sounds kind of gross but at least I can puke in my own toilet! Thanks for the support and advice ladies!
