Six weeks old and a cold

Tuesday question from a new mom:

My girls have a little bit of runny noses, no fevers, coughs or anything like that.  They eat as they would normally do, sleep little longer and want to snuggle much more with us.  I'm checking their temp a few times a day, it's always anywhere between 97.7 - 98.

At what point I should call the doctor? Or wwyd?  Am I overreacting?

I think you're overreacting.  Runny noses, and that's it?  Is it interferring with their breathing (and suctioning doesn't help)?  If not, chalk it up to a runny nose.  They happen, especially this time of year.

My lil ones get nasal congestion too. My DS is congested all the time b/c of his reflux. My pedi said to try saline drops a few times a day to clear them. You can suction it out afterwards or just let them sneeze it out naturally. Too much suctioning will cause their nasal passages to get swollen and irritated. If it goes on for more than a few days or fever sets in then I would call.

Around that age my girls got super stuffy noses.  I used saline drops and the suction...I think it was changes in temperature, etc.  They never had fevers.  I mentioned to my pedi during one of their weight checks and she wasn't concerned.

Suction, suction, suction.  Get that snot out of their noses.  If the runny nose presists then call the doc.  Also if they become fussy and not wanting to eat , call the doctor.  My concern is always ear infections.  My little twins started with them at 9 weeks old and they just got tubes last week (@ 5 months old).
