Hello ladies, I'm new on here. I'm a first time mom and due March 26th.
Anyways I was hoping maybe someone could help me. My face is breaking out like crazy since I have been pregnant. I asked my doctor if I would be able to try proactiv (never used it before pregnancy but I'm desperate). She said I should be fine after 16 weeks if I would like to start using it. My boyfriend thinks that she seemed really unsure of herself when I asked her a question about this and he doesn't want me to use it.
Has anyone used proactiv during pregnancy? and if so did it work?
TIA

I posted the same ques a few months ago...my doc said no. I have been using neutrogena alcohol free toner and the oil free acne wash and my face and chest cleared up. I'm still struggling with my backne. Here's the research that I found:
Ingredients that are safe while pregnant are benzoyl peroxide, erythromycin, clindamycin, and sodium sulfacetamide. These ingredients are safe in their topical forms, not in oral forms. Don't rely on the acne medication itself. Eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables, drink plenty of water, keep your hair and hands off your face, and wash your face at least twice each day.Ingredients that should be avoided are sodium sulfacetamide, tretinoin, and tetracycline. Other ingredients that have not had sufficient studies done to determine safety during pregnancy are hydrocortisone, adapalene, azelaic acid, and salicylic acid. Since there is no way of knowing if those drugs are safe, they should be avoided. You certainly don't want to find out that they weren't safe the hard way!
