EI and Mat Benefits
Hi
Both good and bad news all at once, Life.
I just got laid off and just found out I'm pregnant - if I go onto EI (I'm sick and who will hire a pregnant women) - I will have used up almost my year before the baby even comes.
Any suggestions? Anyone ever been in the same situation?

I don't have any advice unfortunately!!
Did they know you were pregnant? If so, I'd contact the Labour board and see if that's legal. If not - many many retailers are looking for part time seasonal help... you won't get any benefits but often you will get nearly full time hours, saving your EI benefits until possibly January or February or if you're newly preggo, maybe they won't know you're pregnant!! Perhaps they'll keep you on permanently if you are a great employee.

How far along are you? You don't have to tell them you are pregnant when you are being offered a job (or when interviewing). Also there would be loads of seasonal work right now that you could look into.
Could your SO take parental leave?
