DD goes back to see the ENT and thats when they will tell us if we need to do tubes. I dont really know If that will solve our problem. She doesnt get a whole lot of ear infrections but she does have hearing loss and they say its from all the fluid.
I know when I was a kid I got a lot of ear infections and they went to put tubes in my ears and could not do it because I did not have the canal for them to go into. What if this happens to my kid? Are they going to let her go Def for a year and a half until they realize that hey we can use an old Wisky jug and some tubing and stick it in her ear and pull the wax out until she is older!
I just dont want her to go threw what I did. It made school really hard for me and I am just not ready for her to be like that! She is so smart and so bright and I really dont want anyone to ruin that for her. I am just so unsure of everything with her right now. I know that the nose spray that they gave us to try for a month is not doing a thing for her but to have more of a runny nose!
Yes she had the sniffles when we went in there and no the problems started before she had the sniffles and you are basing all of this because she has the sniffles but thats not the CASE!!!! I really hope they listen to me and that they really look into this and not just stick her on nose spray for a nother month then do surgry. I just want my baby to hear!
Sorry this is so long I did not mean for it to be but I really think I need to vent this one out lol. Be ready for next weeks vent too because DD2 goes in for her sleep study and I am so nervouse about that one too......
Re: Kind of worried about tomorrow ( sorry long)
DS wasn't always infected, either. But he ALWAYS had fluid in his ears and couldn't hear well, either. Everything basically sounds like it would if you were underwater.
Normally after an ear infection, the goo drains, the ear is dry, all is well. But b/c his own tubes are so narrow, they stayed filled even when not infected. The tubes give the fluid somewhere to go. The same day he had his put in, he could hear better. He went from 2 words to not shutting up EVER lol.
I get the feeling the tubes will help her a lot.
Voice your concerns to the dr. does he/she know what you went through as a child? if not then tell them. As her mom you have the right to know, understand and be a part of the decision on tube/no tubes, etc. My DS2 has tubes, but he had ear infection after ear infection and was on 4 different antibiotics and none worked...
