If you have a schedule for yourself, are you actually able to get things done, or does it fly out the window half the time? I know there are going to be days that just.. aren't going to happen. But for the most part are you able to stick to what you think you can do in a day?
I'm roughing out a daily list for myself and I'm trying to keep myself within the boundaries of reality here lol
Re: sahms
I've been doing this for 4 1/2 years and still cannot come up with some type of workable schedule. Something always gets neglected. I try to do most of my grocery shopping on Sunday's now so that I can get in and out, but sometimes I do it on Mondays.
I try to do a load of laundry a day so I am not stuck doing a bunch in one day. I do the floors 2-3 times a week. Kitchen and living room everyday. Bathrooms (2 on one day and the 3rd on another) once a week. Dusting has become a little easier now. I just wipe down every other day as I am walking through a room.
The bills and checkbook are what I am having a hard time keeping up with. The bills get done as they are due, but the checkbook gets backed up and I end up with a ton of receipts to enter at one time.
Getting out of the house everyday is a must. I am usually gone after breakfast and not back home until lunchtime. Then 3 days during the week we are also gone in the afternoon after Justin wakes up from his nap.
Plan? what is that?
Take that for what you will, though... both my girls are in preschool every day, I have the cleaners come every two weeks, and I STILL have a hard time staying on top of everything. Homemaker of the year I am NOT!

I don't schedule out everything, but I know what I need to get done.
I'll usually decide 1-2 days beforehand if we're going anywhere, so I can tell the kids. Ben hates to be surprised that we need to run somewhere - he's very much a homebody. So when we go to bed I usually tell him what is going on the next day. I have a goal time when we are leaving the house, but lately I'm not getting anywhere on time.
As for house stuff, I don't plan. I do what needs done. I usually do laundry every day, but it doesn't get folded until I put the kids to bed. Most days I don't have any time where I am not at least supervising kids and need to be downstairs (DH works almost every day 7a-11p). I always clean the kitchen after each meal, run the dishwasher at night, and we pick up the entire main level after dinner each evening. I vacuum about 2x/week...but not on set days, just when it looks like it is needed. Same for the bathrooms....I clean them when they look like they need it - which is about every 2nd day.
I tried to do a schedule, but it wasn't worth the effort....something always needed cleaned out of order or laundry didn't need done that day.
So are you just planning or did you put your notice in for real?
