I know it is supposed to go in the upper outer quadrant, but I am so nervous I am going to get the spot wrong. My RE showed me this morning- but I am second guessing myself. I should have had her draw a circle there.
I really wish I had a scanner, I justt had my injections class and I have a picture. It shows that you would draw a line at the top of the crack, you want to give yourself the shot above the line. And then if you divided the cheek in half the shot would be on the outer half.
I know if you were doing the shot yourself my RE would have the women do it in the thigh to make it easier since you ahve to draw back on the syringe to check for blood which can be a little hard if giving yourself the shot.
IM refers to an intramuscular shot. I havent used gonal f but I believe that is a subcutaneous injection. Usually the trigger shots are intramuscular but not always.
What's IM? Does this refer to trigger shot (Gonal?)
It means "in the muscle" injection. Usually they are done for progesterone injections during an IVF cycle.
Gonal is not a trigger shot it is a follicle stimulating hormone. It is not given IM it is sub-q (in the fatty layer.)
My trigger shot was not IM but I think some are...
OP - I could have DH take a picture of my butt to show you! It has four giant squares with a big happy face in the top outer quadrant. That DH insists on redrawing over and over even though he knows where to do it. I wish I could verbally explain the area. It is basically my hip but just in closer the butt cheek a little bit. You don't want it too low where it is really fatty because then you won't get in the muscle and not too high where you are at where your spine is....
I am sorry I totally didn't help!

SAIF/PAIF Welcome
Lots of love and luck to my PAIF/3T/IF Veteran ladies, especially my dear friend Zookie. Congrats to Papps, Teach84 and Starbuck on their little ones.
You can be prescribed all the meds IM, intramuscularly. All of my stims and PIO were done IM. It is just RE preference.
My nurse said do not do the IMs in your thigh because it is incredibly painful, she said I am better off doing them in my hip using a mirror to guide myself if I am doing them. I have done them myself and it is really easy, albeit awkward and it doesn't hurt at all.
The PP who said to divide your cheek into quadrants is how it was explained to me too. Here is the pic my RE gave me
this is a link off my RE site to freedom pharmacy, click on the progesterone and it will show you the IM video. i would always aim for the furthest area from the center because you can hit a nerve (very painful!)
