New to The Bump

Emotional Rollercoaster

Hi all!  I'm brand-spanking new to The Bump!  I'm 27 and have been married for two and a half years.  My husband and I decided to go off of BC in September and start TTC.  We were so excited about this new phase of our lives!  As soon as I went off the pill, I got my AF for a few days, then it went away.  We had "fun" after that, but weren't necessarily "trying."  Well, it's been 56 days since my last AF... I haven't gotten a period since the first week I went off the pill!

Obviously I've taken about a billion HPT.  All being negative, I called the doc, was told to abstain for two weeks, went in today to take their pregnancy test, it also came back negative... So, now the plan is to go on progesterone to jump start my system.  I was on BC for eleven years, so apparently my ovaries need to wake up.

Anywho, I'm getting a little down and frustrated.  The nurse today went through the steps we'll need to take, starting with the progesterone, and what we'll do if this doesn't kick start ovulation and a period.  I'm trying so hard to stay positive and get back to that place of excitement, the joy that comes along with TTC and the thought of having a baby!

So I'm hoping The Bump will help me stay positive and give me tons of information as I start this new chapter in my life.  I'm only two months in, and it's already an emotional rollercoaster!

Re: Emotional Rollercoaster

  • Many, many people have had issues for a few cycles coming off of BC. You may just need to give your body a break from hormones for a bit, and things will even out. One wonky cycle doesn't necessarily mean it's all downhill for you, so try not to let it get to you or your TTC journey could be exhausting.

  • I'm sorry you're going through this. I do hear that being on BC for so long can really make it take longer for you to conceive but keep your head up. There is a "6 month rule" and people usually say it takes at least 6 months the minimum to conceive when you get off of BC; but this is not always true (I conceived on my first month off so there really is hope). Good luck! And keep us posted -=)
