Re: Step 2 vs little tikes play kitchens

  • I've seen some of the step2 kitchens in friend's houses, and although they're cute, they seem pretty flimsy to me. We have a step2 work bench for Ds and it doesn't seem all that well made, but we also have a step2 slide play structure in our backyard that I've been impressed with, so I think its kind of hit or miss with them.

  • We have an older Step 2 kitchen - I bought it on ebay. It's great - it's sturdy and DD likes it. I don't have anything to compare it to.
  • We just got a Step2 kitchen and I have no complaints. DD is obsessed, and I've even been playing with it myself. =)  It's very cute, but I also haven't seen any other ones in person.

We bought it because it seemed more realistic than the other ones based on pictures and reviews, it doesn't take up an enormous amount space, and has some neat features - like the stovetop makes different cooking noises depending on which pot you put on it.

  • We have a Step2 kitchen and it's great. DD bangs the crap out of it with pots and pans and anything else you could imagine so I wouldn't classify it as flimsy at all.
  • I don't have an opinion on the brand, but https://tinyurl.com/29tnjue JUST had Step2 play kitchens on bigtime sale.  It's the second time I've seen them on the site, so you may want to keep an eye out.

  • We bought DD a Step 2 kitchen for Christmas and assembled it already. It seems to be very sturdy and I don't forsee it ever being something that DD could break without extreme force. Our daycare has numerous Step 2 and Little Tykes play items and they all seem sturdy for the amount of foot traffic they get.
