Stim Day 5 and...........

NOTHING.............34 follicles and none of them want to grow!!!  WTF is going on????    Fellow IVF'ers do you have any stories to give me some hope that they will grow??  How long can I go on like this before they just give up on them??    On top of it all, my u/s tech of the last year passed away on Monday.........she was in a car accident......I think I may lose my mind.

I'm so sorry about your ultrasound tech.  I don't have lots of experience but I had several follies pop up in the last few days of stims and they caught up.  Is the RE altering your dosages?

I have heard of having a dominant follicle that hogs all of the FSH and doesn't share with the others.  There was a lady at my clinic who had a huge giant follicle on the back side of her ovaries and they didn't see it until they tried to go in and do the ER.  34 follies is A LOT! It may just be that there are so many that the FSH just isn't enough to get them going.  That's sad about your u/s tech.  What does your RE say about all this?

oh my goodness, none of that is good news.  i'm very sorry to hear about the loss of your u/s tech.  very sad.

My nurse will call me between 2 and 4 with my Estrogen Level which hopefully went up and Im assuming they'll give me a higher dose of gonal F but I would have thought after five doses SOMETHING would be growing......Im kind of panicking.....Yah, 34 is a ton, 24 on the Left and 10 on the right and maybe my RE is being super cautious because of my obvious risk of OHSS......my nurse did tell me Monday that my doses would be all over the place, however i would have expected growth by now.  Kelin's thought makes sense, maybe because I have so many it's not enough of a dose??

I only had 12 to start with but I seem to remember only having a very few measure-worthy by day 5.

I think Kelin may be on to something... plus, of course, the high number of follies means the docs need to be cautious in their medicating.

For peace of mind, ask when they call you this afternoon with dosing instructions.

Day 5 I didn't really have too much growth, they didn't give up on the few I had until two of them started to dominate and then they cancelled my cycle.  That was day 10.

I don't have any IVF experience, but I hope your doctor is able to come up with a plan.  I will be thinking of you.  ((hugs))

Thank you girls....trying to stay positive, you girls have been so fabulous, it never ceases to amaze me the love and suport on our board.   Now I just wait for my nurse to call me.

Sorry to hear about the ultrasound tech. My last IVF cycle was frustrating for me, my dr changed my meds around to try and avoid OHSS, but by doing that I had a few bigger follicles and a bunch of small. So they had to up my meds and add another med so I was on 4-5 shots a day and the little ones caught up. I was a little doubtful at first, but the med change worked, my body just stimmed a little longer then my previous ivf since they changed my meds.
