what are your thoughts on getting your nails done,

so I really,really want to get acrylic nails for thanksgiving, I mentioned that I was wanting to get them done at work, well my manager instantly like " oh you can't get your nails done, that is super selfish" I was planning on asking my doctor before I get them done , but what were your thoughts , do you think its a terrible idea or ok as long as it is a ventilated area?

my mom's nail lady worked up to her due date.  She wore a mask, but those places are usually well ventilated.  Did the smell bother you pre-pregnancy?I actually want to get my nails done soon since these vitamins and hormones are making them strong and pretty! I don't think it's selfish, you deserve some pampering!

no thats  the thing the smell never bothers me , my regular nails keep breaking thats why I wanted to get the acrylics so my nails look pretty for the holiday.

I've gone and gotten pedicures several times now since I've been pregnant.  Its not acrylics, but I'm still in the environment and smelling it or whatever.  I figure you're in there for an hour or so, so its not really going to be that bad in my opinion.  I think part of the concern is more of infection of unsanitary tools and what not.  So make sure you're going to a repritable clean place, and I'm sure you'll be ok.  I don't know if I'd personally get acrylics because you have to go often and get them filled and I personally couldn't stand the smell that often.  But the pedicure stations are usually far enough away that i'm ok once a month when i go!!!   Good luck!  But definetly check with what your doctor thinks!!!!

I think it is not a selfish thing to get your nails done. I like pretty solar nails too as my nails break so often.  I got them done during this pregnancy.

i get my nails done every 2 weeks and its the one thing i still do for myself! My doctor said its perfectly safe and the smell doesnt bother me at all! Go for it!!

I'm in a wedding on sat so I'm getting a mani and pedi on friday.  Its not something I do often because I usually keep my nails pretty short because I'm a picker but I've let them grow for the last 2 weeks so I could get them done for the wedding.

Go for it!!! Didn't like the comment that the guy said,, I'm sure you'll be fine if you get them done. I'm looking forward to getting a massage!!! Just got to fit it in..

I hope not because I've been getting my done once a month.  My doctor told me that there is no reason that I shouldn't get my nails done.  Go and have fun!

I get a mani/pedi once a month too although it's not acrylic's I do smell it.  I've never had a problem either

I get mine done every 3 weeks and just make sure it's a large place that is ventilated.  My doc said she is completely comfortable with it as long as I don't inhale fumes

If you're really worried about the fumes just get there early before it gets too busy.
