Pregnant after a Loss

Too much peach fuzz

OK, so I know that one of the perks of pg is that your hair grows long and full and healthy? I always assumed that meant just the hair on your head. But I?ve decided that I definitely have more peach fuzzy facial hair too. Yikes- once you notice something like that, you can?t stop seeing it and it?s so embarrassing to me to think that other people can notice it but are just too polite to mention it (thank goodness). I think I?m fuzzier on my cheeks by my ears/hairline and the other day I noticed my neck- like right past my chin- looks fluffy. Thank goodness it?s blonde/fine and *hopefully* not that noticeable?then again, DH pointed it out to me, too (thanks so much) and I don?t know if I should try to do something about it.  Maybe if it catches the light it?s really terrible- but looking straight on in the mirror I don?t think it?s that big of a deal.

My fear of getting anything waxed (I mean, is waxing your cheeks/neck even a thing to do?) is a) wouldn?t that just leave a line where the waxing stopped? B) wouldn?t that bring more attention to it as it grows back? C) what if it grows back thicker?! D) ingrown hairs?  Maybe I should just leave it alone, wear my (head!) hair down and hope it?s not that noticeable?

Anyone have experience/suggestions?

Re: Too much peach fuzz

  • Lucky for you it's just peach fuzz.  With my PCOS I get dark coarse hairs that pop up in teh same spots that i have to tweeze.  Grrr...  Something like this works really really well for me in places that are peach fuzzy that I can't tweeze.  Waxing seems like it would be overkill and painful.

I have a friend who has a TON of peach fuzz and each pregnancy seems to make it worse.

  • Or, you could be like Caroline Manzo (Real Housewives of NJ) and shave in the shower with cream and all.  LOL. She credits it to her glowing skin!  :)

  • Waxing isn't bad at all if you're only doing your cheeks/neck area.  When you wax, it pulls hair out by the roots, so it grows back finer each time you do it.  There is a possibility for ingrown hairs, but there are lotions to put on right after waxing (Tend Skin is my favorite) that prevent ingrown hairs.  If it's peach fuzzy, though, the chances for ingrowns are slim, but it mostly depends on your own skin. If you want to wax again, you have to wait til hair grows in to about 1/4 of an inch before you can do it agian.

Trust me - I'm a freaking hairy beast before getting pg.  I have such thick black facial hair, that I'd be too embarrased to let it grow in again after waxing.  I shave my face (like a man) every morning in the shower and pluck as needed through the day.  Embarrassed

I have the same thing on my stomach! Instead of a linea negra forming I just have a darkned patch of hair.

So glad this to find out it's not just me.

  • I have hair everywhere!! Peach fuzz on face/neck, stomach hair, crotch hair migrating down my legs... its horrible!

I recommend waxing. It lasts the longest, the hair grows back finer and more sparse. The only downside is ingrown hairs but proper care can minimize them.
