okay, totally gross but occassionally DD (4.5 yrs) wets bed at night. I have my method for cleaning the mattress after her sheets are soaked through. But, what do you do?
We have waterproof mattress pads, so the mattress doesn't get hit.
But I would blot the mattress with soapy water, let it dry and then spray with extra strength Febreze (that stuff got cat pee smell out of a rug better than any of the enzyme cleaners).

this is what I do. Plus lysol. Waterproof mattress pad sounds like the way to go! Thanks
We also use a mattress protector so you take it off like a sheet and put it into the washer. Seriously, if my child peed on the mattress often I would invest in a new one and use a cover.
Definitely use a protector. I honestly think if a mattress was peed on without one, I would just throw it away. I can't see how one can truly clean the inside.
Spray bottle of water and white vinegar, spray until wet enough to blot, blot out with clean towel until feel the urine is gone, dust area with baking soda to absorb remainder of liquid and vacuum to remove. Might need to repeat once dry if smell lingers. Sounds tedious but its really not all that bad and it got dried cat urine out of a Tempurpedic foam mattress.

Mattress pad that I wash on a daily basis. How often does your dd pee on it? Can't imagine really being able to get pee out.
