I have never voted in my life (I'm 33) but I am finally a registered voter (as of the last presidencial election which I did not vote in). I'm going to check out votesmart.org but I am very intimidated by it since I've never done it so I don't know if I'll go vote. is it hard? can someone give me a run down of what you do?

You go in and fill in bubbles, or touch a screen, or punch holes in things, and that's it.  It's very easy.

This blows my political activist mind. Please go vote. It isn't hard, I promise. Check out your local league of women voters page to get good info on candidates.

I just never registered to vote and I didn't grow up in a strong voting house so I wasn't brought up with it. My stepson is who convinced me to take a more active role in politics. He was so excited to turn 18 so he can vote this year! I made his 18th birthday cake and I recreated the I voted today sticker but I wrote I CAN vote today

I've always voted. It isn't hard. You can use Google to get a run down of each measure on the ballot and the elected officials. I like to read information from both sides (dem and rep). I find I get more actual information that way.

I get being intimidated by the process, but it really isn't hard to vote. Maybe you and he can go together.

Me too.  Like I said before, I even got special permission to leave bedrest to vote in the 2006 election.  I had just had my fusion a few weeks before but the dr agreed when I told him how important voting was to me.

thanks for the links, I'll check them out. I would go with my stepson but he lives in another town so that wouldn't work. I just went to my cities website and watched a video. I'll think I'll do it i want my son to have good values and I think exercising our right to vote is a good one to show him!

I understand everyone wants you to vote, but please be sure to be educated too. I get wanting voters but you don't want uneducated voters out there either! You don't have much time till the election, but try to brush up on the candidates tomorrow and go in informed. The actual voting process isn't hard. Being educated on the candidates and ignoring the smear campaigns is a bit harder, but definitely manageable!

I can't vote for all but I have been trying to keep up with a few candidates and feel pretty informed in my decisions. If I don't know enough about it I won't vote for it, which is one of the reasons I never registered to vote before, never kept up with politics.

There are election volunteers at each polling place that can explain the process to you as well. You always have the option NOT to vote for particular offices if you don't feel you are informed about the candidates and their issues. It's great that you are exercising your right to vote and to be educated about who and what you are voting for.
