Embryo update :(

I'm doing an IVF with PGD so had my egg retrieval about a week ago and the plan was to get the embies to 5 days, biopsy a cell and send off for testing and then freeze them embies and do a FET next month.  I had 16 eggs retrieved, only 6 fertilized and the RE just called to say 5 of them didn't ever progress to the blast stage.  I have 1 frozen embie from all that.  I could cry...but I'm at work.  They did send samples from all 6 for genetic testing so it might give us a clue but I really can't imagine what the answer is.

    Oh NO!  I'm so sorry to hear this.

    Hopefully they'll have some answers when you get the biopsies back.

    I am so sorry. I had one IVF where we had low numbers and of them, everything came back affected. Not even making it to tx. was harder than a BFN, IMO, because you felt like you didn't even get into the game.

    I am SO sorry. After I had the bad cycles, I did 3 months of wheatgrass and it dramatically improved the quality of my embies. So much so that the lab director was giddy. It ended badly but I think that's because of my svckazz body and not my rockstar embies.

    I am so sorry :( Big hugs.  Now I am going to give you some puppies and rainbows.  IRL friend's wife had only one egg retrieved - one!  They are now the proud parents of a one year old boy.  My fingers are crossed you get answers and a hopeful future.

    I'm so sorry love!

    I did IVF with PGD testing a month back. 5 fertilized but turned to crap by day 5. They were either very fragmented or growing much too slowly. Unfortunately all 5 showed chrom. abnormalities.

    The "good" news in this is that as long as the egg fertilized and grew even a bit, they will be able to successfully run the PGD tests and look for any issues.
