Cloth Diapering

How sad is this?

My daycare agreed to cloth diaper, no problem.  Yet we dropped DD off at my MIL's yesterday while DH and I went to his work and she "didn't want to bother with the other thing, so I threw a pamper on her."  That pissed me off.  She didn't even poop, so all she had to do was replace the insert.

Re: How sad is this?

  • Was this the same person who originally agreed to CD? Or was the agreement to do it not passed along from that person to the employees?

Why are people so intimidated by cloth anyway?

  • I would be furious... have your H explain that is not an option.

  • Maybe I'm not understanding, but daycare is not your MIL right?  Unless she agreed to it beforehand as well, I don't think you can be mad...  Anyone who is generous enough to watch our DS can diaper him how they choose, and if I didn't want to take that chance I'd not leave him there.  CDing isn't for everybody...

  • Correct MIL is not my daycare.  I would almost expect my daycare to have lazy days and not want to, but I expect much more from my MIL.

  • MIL has been resenting the cloth diapering until I finally got her some with aplix.

Now she 100% fine with it.

  • If you get AIOs w/ velcro it's just as easy as disposables.  Maybe she is intimidated by the inserts or something.

  • This is one of my biggest worries about leaving my LO with MIL when I go back to work. She says she is okay with the CD's & CURRENT safety standards but she tends to "forget" or "get overwhelmed" and do things however she pleases.

  • I only send pre-stuffed BG pockets to MILs and she still sometimes uses sposies.  My view is that she agreed to CD so I provide everything necessary.  If she wants to waste her own money on sposies, fine.  Luckily E doesn't have reactions to sposies.  If she did it would be a whole new situation with MIL not following my wishes.  At first it was hard for me to let it go, but you have to pick and choose your battles.  She also swears E has diaper rash so she slathers A&D on and puts her in a sposie.  As long as its not on MY CDs I don't care.

  • I had the same argument with someone in my gym daycare the other day. I GAVE you a diaper, a place to put the peed in dirty diaper, and yet they refused to change a CD. WTF? They would easily change a crap out the ears disposable, but a CD, ewwww?! Frustrating.

Has your MIL been educated and show how do to them? I would make my husband show her how if that happened to us....I would be annoyed too. Hope it improves!
