Cloth Diapering

With this NB stash, what can I do to get longer hours or night hours?

We just started putting our DS (almost 4 weeks and probably approx 10 lbs by now) into CD's this past week.  I bought a variety of CD stash before he was born.

This is what we have:

24 GMD prefolds

4 Thirsties covers

4  KL0 fitteds

2 Swaddlebees fitteds

1 BG small AIO

3 BG OS pocket

2 FB small pocket

2 FB OS pocket

Especially with the PF's and KL0/swaddlebees fitteds, what can we do to get longer hours for night time?  However, even so LO is waking up every 1.5 to 2.5 hours at night anyway.  But if he were to ever sleep 4 hours I don't want to feel guilty knowing he's in a wet diaper.

  • He's a nb, so he's not going to sleep long stretches anyway. I'd just keep on keeping on until he settles into a longer sleep routine. If you notice he's sleeping longer, start stuffing the pockets, if they fit.

We haven't tried a CD at night yet.  But the few times that we tried PF's within an hour he was soaked through and leaked through to his clothes.  However, we don't have a snappi yet and I was doing a tri-fold, and maybe not even doing it properly.

I was just worried that if we tried PF's at night he'd be soaked through and leak within a very short period of time.  I need to get a snappi to try it.

But you have an entire stash, including fitteds. Experiment with some other things (like the fitteds or the S pocket) and see how it goes.

If he's getting up every 2 hours anyway, there's no need to have a night CDing plan yet.

  • When DS was a newborn and sleeping longer stretches, we used BG AIO (size small), and also stuffed it with an extra insert for night time.
  • We did double prefolds at night in the beginning.  You'll need pins or a Snappi, though.  Trifold one pf and lay it in another on, then pin or Snappi the second.  You may need a larger-sized cover.  Or you can buy small doublers to lay in.  you could also try your FBOS.  They fit my younger DD now and she is just a bit over 9 lbs.

  • We use prefolds/covers with DD, but now that she is often STTN, we are using FB OS and BG OS for overnight diapers. We double stuff them using both inserts that came with each diaper. She's only about 9 lbs., so they are HUGELY bulky on her when they are double stuffed, but they work. She has gone 11-12 hours with them at night, and we haven't had any leaks.
