DH, DS and I are traveling to San Francisco in a couple of weeks. We are staying downtown. Should we rent a car, take public transit or take the cab? What activities/points of interest are a must see and easy to do with LO. Thanks so much.

    I live near SF, but don't spend enough time there to answer you. Try asking on the Northern CA board. They are helpful over there!

    Hard to find parking and expensive to park downtown if you rent a car.  BART is very accessible and easy to take.  If you plan on going through the tube though to the East Bay, bring something to protect your LO's ears, it can get a little loud.  I hate the public bus (MUNI) so if you need to get to more out of reach places not linked by BART, then I would take a taxi.  Taxis are pretty common on the major streets.  check out www.bart.gov.  Also www.511.org is a great website to plan your trips.
