For #1 it was when he could play and entertain himself in the car, like 18 months. Sorry! #2 hates the car too. But sometimes my boys jabber back and forth and that makes it more bearable.

I had the same problem with Jackson.  My mom lives 1 hour 45 minutes away and we had a few months where he would scream for more than an hour.  No matter what I did he wouldn't stop.  Now I try to time my travel when I know he is tired and will probably fall asleep.  I make sure he is warm enough and I feed him right before we leave.  So far we have had a month or so of complete silence in the backseat.  I really hope I'm not speaking too soon because it is enough to make me want to drive straight to the mental hospital when he won't stop!!!  I hope, for your sake, your sweet little Simon learns to either sleep or enjoy the scenery
