Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Educate me...

So everyone keeps asking if I give LO juice yet.  I really had no intentions of giving him juice.  He drinks water in his sippy cup and loves it.  Is there some benefit to babies drinking juice that I am missing??

Re: Educate me...

  • Not that I know of. I don't plan on giving Juliana juice either. It is just added sugar and calories imo.

  • I'm not a big advocate of giving kids juice at all. IMO, if they eat fruit and veggies (which mine do) they don't need juice. Nathan still doesn't get much juice and when he does it's 50% water.

  • Nope...juice once in a while is not terrible but all in all it's unnecessary. I'm doing exactly what you are as far as just water/no juice.

  • I probably won't give DS any juice unless he's badly constipated.  I'll push milk and water as much as possible.

  • No.  I have never given DD juice.  I know some do for constipation, but we have never had an issue with her.  I would rather just give her fruits and veggies everyday.

  • MIL pushes apple juice big time, but I don't plan on making it a regular thing. Milk and water are much better (and cheaper!). If they're eating solid (puree) fruits and veggies, it's not adding any nutrition.
