Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Am I being a jerk?

My cousin has ovarian cancer and they are having a fundraising dinner tonight.  It's in a town about an hour away and from 6-8 p.m.  We're going, I want to show my support, but there's a part of me that's like "Really?  On Halloween between 6-8??"  Our town had mandated ToT'ing hours from 5-8.  I realise Halloween is likely the last thing on their minds, but my cousin does have two grade school aged little boys.

Am I a total jerk for kind of giving the date/timing  the side-eye?

  • I think it's a crappy time, but I'm kind of a bish.  lol  Can you just send a donation and skip the whole deal?  Or is it a moral support thing, too?

  • For giving it the side eye? No. If you weren't going because of Halloween, yes!

I used the term "side eye" today with my mom today.. and she was like "what are you talking about??" haha.

  • I agree that the timing is a little strange but they are likely not thinking about that...at least that is the conclusion I came to.

We're like two peas in a pod.

Nah, I really want to be there to show my support, not just send the money.  I really don't know if I'd go if Dylan was at a ToT'ng age though.  Paige is going with her Dad.

  • Yeah, it's kind of bad timing, but who knows why they chose this weekend, ya know?

If I were her, I'd rather be T or T'ing with my kids.

Well, as I said above, if Dylan was a few years older, I would probably just send a check and not go.

I use Bump-isms sometimes in real life and then I feel so stupid! lol  I've started using "Bat Sh!t crazy" in daily conversations.

Well, you are a very nice cousin for going.  I'm sure she will really appreciate it.

  • Yeah, I'd give the side eye too. Are they making it a Halloween themed party?

I thought that, too....but with her young kids, I can't see how it would of escaped notice.  Maybe it was the only date they could get the hall or get up here or something.

No!  I thought that, too and I told my grandma that I was going to bring Dylan in costume (because where else is he gonna wear it?) and she got a little salty.  "It's NOT a Halloween party, Laurie!"

Um..well, ok.  But it IS on Halloween, and if I want to dress up my baby, dammit, then I will!

That's weird! They should have made it a Halloween party if they were going to use the day!

  • I would have side-eyed it more for the people with older children (4-11). They could have done a brunch or something earlier in the day if that was the only date that worked.
