Help me pick a washer/dryer

DH and I will be moving into our house in May.  We're going to have to buy a washer and dryer, but I'm looking now (if I find a really good deal I may buy them and just put off delivery until May).  I really want one with steam, because I hate ironing and, let's face it, things hardly ever get hung up right when they're finished drying.

I know that I want something with a pre-soak/wash option, second rinse option, etc. for making CD laundry easier, and I want super high capacity (DH and I live in jeans, and have a Cal King bed, so I need lots of room).

We don't have an unlimited budget, but we're willing to put a good chunk of money towards this to get something that's quality and will make our lives easier (we plan on having more kids, and future children will be CDed as well).

So, what's your dream washer/dryer, or what do you have that you love?

  • I have the Whirpool Duet Steam washer and dryer on my wishlist for when ours crap out- but that will be a while.

  • I haven't looked at W&D recently, but I really wish we had a top loader!  We spent a lot of $ on a front loader (first big purchase as a couple) and it's definitely made CDing more difficult.  Babies and diapers definitely weren't on our radar when we were buying.

  • We have an LG front loader washer & dryer and I love it.  We have no problems CDing with it, it has a "water plus" feature which really helps.  When we were researching new washer & dryers we heard repeatedly that the steam function is not worth it.  LG's are not very pricey and we ordered through us-appliance.com and got a good deal

  • Thanks ladies! I was thinking that a high capacity top loader would be better so I can just dump the diapers in. Plus they're cheaper!
