Olives are safe for dogs, right? 'Cause if they are, Fletch has been snacking madly on the ones falling off our olive tree. And if not, well I'd never be such an irresponsible dog owner as to let my dog eat whatever's on the ground!
Hey Colinda! How are you? (Other than being a slacker furmama, that is.)
I'm pretty sure that olives aren't a big deal themselves--I just did a quickie search on a database to double-check & didn't find anything there, either. My biggest concern would be if he ate a whole bunch & couldn't pass all of the pits. But I'm guessing a little here & there shouldn't be trouble...except, of course, for the standard "anything outside his normal diet can give him diarrhea". Hope this helps!
Hope you, DH & the dogs are doing well & that you're enjoying prime soccer season right now!

P.S. SOOOO jealous about the olive tree! I used to get into trouble with my Nonny every Sunday for picking the olives out of the salad before dinner. What kind of olives are they? Do you eat them? Is it a difficult tree to maintain? I'm in quasi-Mediterranean Florida with 40 acres now, so I figure I can probably have an olive tree if I want one.

We don't do jack to that tree. I guess it produces every couple of years, because we didn't get any olives last year. They are black olives, but google tells me green olives are just unripe black olives? They're kinda small and almond-shaped. I actually don't like olives (olives, raw tomatoes and mushrooms are the healthy foods I don't like), but I'm going to try my hand at brining. There are just sooooo many of them that my poor little sustainable heart can't let them all go to waste. Many will be eaten by my canine scroungers, many will go into the compost bin, but there are thousands. I'm going to try a couple brines and see how it turns out. Hello, Christmas gifts!!!
