Babies: 6 - 9 Months

How much would you spend

I grew up in a cul de sac super close with this one family who had 3 kids the same age as us kids. Well we're still pretty close even though we have since moved, but not like go out of the way to hang out kind of friends more like we both get invited to the big things.

Anyways the son who is my age is having a baby (miracle right) OK his girlfriend is having the baby. Their shower is next weekend. How much would you spend on a gift?

Re: How much would you spend

  • I don't generally choose gifts based on the relationship I have with the person.  I would spend the same amount I always spend on that kind of thing.

Yeah, but last shower I went to was a best friends baby. IDK guess I just feel like there is a difference?

  • Murfy!! Where have you been? I paged you the other day. I got the Target Halloween babylegs and had a PIP for you :)

  • I disagree to a certain extent.  I have a price I normally spend if I'm not super close to someone.  But people I'm close to, I spend more.

Its hard to say not knowing what you normally spend on people.  But if it were me, I'd buy something nice from their registry in the $60-$100 range.

I took a mini bumpcation to be productive last week since we're moving in 2 weeks.

Link to the page? I tried to go back and see if I missed anything but it was a lot of pages to skim over. WE sure post a lot in one week!

If it were a close friend I would be buying a big ticket item. Their travel system is a hundred bucks thinking of just buying that and calling it good. Since it's cheap for a travel system.

  • Its hard to say because your financial situation could be hugely different from mine. But I would say for me I would spend no less then $50 but no more then $75

Ohhh...yeah, I wasn't looking at it like that.  I was thinking more of all of the random showers, not close friends and family.  For a "random", I would say anywhere between $50-100 depending on what you can afford.

  • I spend around $50-$100.  No matter what.  Cause if it's a close friend, I've usually helped out or thrown the baby shower.  Then when the baby is born I bring flowers/gift.  So they get more that way in the long run.
  • I spend around 25 on obligation gifts (for people I'm not close to). I'd spend much more on someone I was close to.
  • I usually spend around $100, maybe $75 if it's someone I'm not that close with.

  • You guys spend a lot on non-close people. I normally do $25-$40 bucks depending on who it is. For work showers I only $20.00.

If it is for family or someone really close I spend between $60- $100.

This is me too. I will usually get a cute little baby knickknack (I got someone a pacimal once, and I like to do Picky Sticky) and some practical stuff like Gripe Water and baby Tylenol.

Yeah, I just can't decide where they fall they're kind of in between.

  • It depends on finances. For someone I'm close to I spend up to $100. For this situation I'd oopt for something between $30-50.
