Babies: 6 - 9 Months

I'm having a formula issue

A few months ago we switched DS from Enfamil to the "like Enfamil" BJs brand.  We just found out it's discontinued and we can only find the "like Similac" version.  I've heard Up&Up is supposed to be good but it seems like it's $35 for the same amount of formula we got in the $20 BJs can.

Would you switch to the "Similac" stuff or try to stay with something that claims to be like Enfamil, which he's been on, in some form, since he was born?

Re: I'm having a formula issue

  • I would probably stick with something the same, but I am over cautious. Ask your pedi what they think. I have a friend who's husband was a pharm rep who called on pedi offices, so they had a ton of freebies, and they just switched back and forth between basic similac and enfamil. She said it was like "coke and pepsi". My SILs neighbor gave her third baby "whatever" and switched between formulas. Both their kids are fine :) HTH.

I wish I could wait and ask but unfortunately, we didn't realize we're at the tail end of our last can :(  We need to pick something up today.

  • Hmmm well I wouldn't try something new if I were on my last can.  I think what I would do it buy the like Enfamil stuff and then try the similac stuff when you still had some Enfamil left....just in case.  I don't know if BJ's is like Sam's Club, but if the formula doesn't work for you guys you can return it opened.
  • I would try the imitation Enfamil at Costco or Sam's Club.  It probably isn't any different.
