Potty Training

No idea where to start?

Not sure if this is even the right place to post, because it seems like everyone here is trying, hopefully someone has been successful...

I'm pretty sure DD is ready, she is almost 30 months and knows when she has a poop and asks to be changed (not really sure she knows when she's pottying). She is usually dry after naps. We've had a potty out since last December and she has accidentally gone on it a couple times, but we haven't really been training. But this week we are going to try, I keep talking about it and she says she doesn't want to do it? Yesterday she sat on the seat we have for her on our potty, so that she could get a quarter for her piggy bank (I can't bribe her with candy, she doesn't like it). Later she wanted to put her poop from her diaper in the toilet and flush it.

So, we are starting tomorrow, just because I am still on maternity leave and DH has a vacation week, but if she isn't ready we will just quit and do it another time.

I see all this talk about 3 day potty training and really don't know what that's all about. I guess I am looking for ideas on how we are going to do this. My plan was to put her in her undies (which she loves), and plan that there will be accidents, but try to get her on the potty when it's happening so we can celebrate and motivate her??

Re: No idea where to start?

  • I say go for it! Read the 3 day PT summary I posted below.  I did it last week and dd was accident free in less than 24 hours! It wasn't bad at all... she did great and so will your dd! GL!

  • I also did the 3 Day pottytraining. If you ask for it (in another post as the title...) I'm sure someone will forward it to you. I dont have my copy anymore.  My DD also insisted she didnt want to PT, but had the same "signs" yours is showing so I went ahead and tried anyways. By day 3 she was pretty much accident free. Keep in mind, that 3 days doesnt mean she wont ever have an accident again, but I think the heavy focus really gives DD a great starting point. We still have a few accidents now and then over here, but she has come SOOO FAR in 1 week. Good Luck!!! And sending tons of patience dust in your direction!
