Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Baby Orajel

I got Baby Orajel as a baby gift and have never used it until today.  Since the teething tablets were recalled and DD was so miserable today (She is cutting 4 top teeth) even though I gave her ibuprofen, I tried a little Orajel.  She did not like the taste and it didn't seem to help.

I always like to taste everything I give DD, so a little bit ago I just rubbed a little Orajel on my mouth.  Soooo gross tasting!  No wonder she didn't like it!  It did make my mouth feel a little numb, but only lasted 5 minutes or so.  I don't think I will be giving it to her again.

Does anyone use this?

  • I used it a few times when DS cut his top teeth. Honestly, I think tylenol worked better, but it did seem to help temporarily. He didn't mind the taste though.

  • We've used it before. What flavor do you have? When it comes to medicine, I rather give them something even if it tastes bad. I always hated the taste of Tylenol but would still give it to DS.

  • It works really well for DS. It takes the motrin awhile to kick in so when he is inconsolable the orajel works quickly to calm him down.
  • My DD loves it! She licks and sticks her tongue in and out because it makes her mouth numb. Ours tastes kind of strawberry-ish.
  • I just started using chamomillia tablets and Camilia, both by boiron. They seemed to work wonders! (I was using tylenol/motrin every night and wasn't comfortable doing so)
