I just read below that you daughter is on antibiotics for a UTI. My DD was just recently hospitalized for this. How many has she had? Did you have to have an ultrasound and a VCUG done? We saw a specialist yesterday. I am so paranoid now that she will get another one. It was awful!

This is her second in a month, but apparently it in runs in Nates family and they have a history of kidney problems so my doc is sending her to a specialist on tuesday and they are going to do an ultrasound. They need to figure out if it keeps coming back cause throws up her antibiotics or if its something more serious. Its so stressful. I feel your pain. Does you LO have greenish discharge by any chance? Lyla had it today and Im trying to figure out if its related. Ugh. keep your chin up.

No, we don't have any discharge. We did have the ultrasound and an MRI because they found a small cyst. The VCUG is a test that checks to see if they have urinary reflux which would make them more prone to infections. The ultrasound does not always show that....in our case it looked fine. You should definitely ask about it since there is a history. It is an unpleasant test but one that the specialist told us is necessary.

How did you catch it the first time? For us, she was fine and then woke up from a nap with a very high fever. There were no other symptoms which is the scariest part.

What antibiotic is she on? Juliana is on Omnicef and the only way she will take it is if I mix it in a bottle or with her food.

I will ask the doc about that test. Lyla only had a mild fever for a couple of hours and we thought it was teeth because 2 days later, she got one, but then she started waking up at night screaming bloody murder and was inconsolable. That was what scared me the most because she literally never cries, ever. I thought maybe it was another tooth, but I took her to the hospital. They blew me off cause she didn't have a fever and said "babies cry". yeah, well mine doesn't so I made an appointment with my doc who knows Lyla and she ran a bunch of tests and urine came back positive for UTI, Then she was fine again for a few weeks and same thing again and no fever at all. I took her to the hospital and lied and said she had a fever the night before and I thought it was a UTI so they caught it this time.
