Hi all,
I rarely post, but I am really having trouble with consuming any kind of meat, and I'm just not eating a variety of nutritional things in general (because I can not stomach hardly anything!) I don't think I've eaten any substantial amount of meat in 3-4 weeks.
I have been getting protein from milk, yogurt and peanut butter. I know I will get my appetite back eventually, but eating nothing but cereal, yogurt, pb&j, and apples is really starting to make me feel weak and sick ALL.THE.TIME (though I know this is also just from pregnancy in general). I have tried to choke down some meat, and other things, but it always comes right back up, or I gag and have to spit it out.
I am not going to ask if anyone else is going through this, because I know more than likely, some of you are. The point of my post (yeah, I lurk and learn - HAHA ) is really just asking for tips any of you may have on getting a variety of nutrients, especially because I seem to not be able to keep my PNV down. I'd really appreciate any tricks or advice!
Hope you are all having a nice Saturday!
Re: Food vent
I can't do meat either - can't even be in the grocery store bc of the smell of meat.
You have to keep eating what makes you feel better. My DH thinks I should only eat healthy things ALL the time, but my OB said that is the 1st Tri, I should eat whats makes the belly happy.
I hope you start to feel better soon. GL

why are you forcing yourself? don't eat it.
you can get protein through soybeans, eggs, beans, peanut butter, fish.

First, you said you can't keep your PNV down. Have you tried the gummy prenatals or even just regular gummies for kids? I have heard people have had better luck with those when the PNVs bother them. Even if you just take the kids vitamins you will be getting something.
Second, if you can handle milk have you tried Carnation Instant Breakfast? I know those have a lot of nutrients in them and I think they even have a good amount of protein. If you are really concerned about the protein you could buy some protein powder and put it in shakes or smoothies you can make at home. I honestly wouldn't worry too much about not being able to eat meat right now though. Sometimes I have a craving for it so I have some but most of the time my protein comes from milk, cheese, and peanut butter like you said. Most of the time the meat is just too much for my stomach.

Oh, trust me, I'm not trying to force myself, but every time I think I might be able to handle it, it just turns out I can't. I'm trying, but not forcing :-)
I wish I could eat the other's you mentioned, but out of those, only peanut butter will stay down! Although I haven't tried soybeans....hmmm
Thanks for the idea; those actually don't sound too bad!
I have not tried the gummies yet. They were next on my list of things to try though :-) I tried the chewable Flintstones, but the taste eventually got to me
.
Thank you for your suggestions!! At this point, I have nothing to lose....well, other than my lunch
I don't know if this will sound appetizing to you or not, but one slice of a large stuffed crust cheese pizza from pizza hut has 16 grams of protein (I read we should be getting 75 g/day at least). It does have lots of calories (350/piece) and fat (14g/piece), but it's fairly high in protein. I'm having trouble getting enough protein as well, so we get pizza every Friday and it really helps (I eat two pieces on Friday and two on Saturday). HTH...if not, just hang in there....eat what you can, and hopefully it will pass soon. Good luck!
Smoothies with PB added to them can do amazing things
If you want a recipe I have one.
I went through the meat aversion 1st go around and it was tough. But things did pick up for the 2nd tri.
