To color or not to color!! Help me

So I have a lady and her husband coming for a dayhome interview today. They are bringing there 2 year old son. To get the child involved I thought I would introduce him to Tucker and all that then ask him if he wants to play with the toys or color while I talk to his mommy and daddy. Do you think its a good idea to offer the child two choices?

Fiancee thinks it is a bad idea to offer him to color. He thinks that if the child colors he might put up a fight to leave when it is time to leave, and the parents will be mad. I would be happy to hear Tucker's doesn't want to leave a dayhomes house. But I am not sure. So what do you all think?

  • I think you run the risk of the child not wanting to leave either way, which would be a good thing. It's always a good idea to have something to entertain the child while you talk to the parents. It'll also be a positive on your side that you already have the room set up to accomodate children and the parents will like seeing that you are already tyring to engage their child. Good luck!!

  • I think that coloring is a great choice. If you offer it right after they get there, his attention span is likely short and he will be done long before your interview is over. It is great to have mulitple choices, because he may not like plan A and you want to seem prepared for anything, KWIM?

If you do end up watching the little boy, a bit of advice. Stickers, stickers, stickers. Give a 2 year old a sheet of stickers to put on paper, keeps them occupied foreeeevvvvvveeeeeerrrrrrr!! Good luck!
