I find it funny...

I'm an occasional poster on my local board, and the earlier in the week I posted about a charity event to raise money for a memorial for the four Lakewood Police Officers who were shot and killed on duty last year. The charity event isn't even asking for money, it is just asking for people to dine out at certain restaurants on November 4th and the restaurants donate the money. My post had 0 replies. Yet, the post above mine asking about places to eat in a certain town had at least 15-20 replies. I just found it odd...

  • Lamesauce. I would totally go if I was closer, and I would take the ILs and my grandparents too. We love to go out to eat as a big group, and it makes it even better if we could help out a charity.
    Effing crazy people.

Yeah, Seattle is a bit far for you :)  I normally wouldn't post asking for money, but this memorial means so much to so many of us. I know a lot of people can't afford to give $ to a charity, but a lot of people eat out quite often. So this is a super easy way to donate.

No, Lakewood, Washington. Last year four officers were shot and killed on duty.

  • That's lame. I would totally go if we were closer.

I know they're not asking for money, but if someone out of state wanted to send a donation, could they?

The Lakewood Police guild webpage has a link for donations here https://www.lpig.us/ (it is on the right hand side of the page)

I shouldn't have read the story on the front page, because now I am crying at work. If you are able to donate, even the smallest donation is truly appreciated. This is something that has touched so many of our lives. For those of us that knew these officers, we think of them constantly and want them to be remembered - not only for the outstanding police officers that they were, but also for the great people that they were.

I'll gladly make a donation. And, if I may pass the link to people on base who I know would love to donate to such a cause.

That is so thoughtful of you, thank you! And yes, if you would pass the link on it would be so appreciated. Thank you! :)
