Question about formula to milk...

I tried to switch to milk slowly and then I stopped because of a cold... my question is my LO has 3 or 4 6oz bottles of formula a day. So do I just fill each bottle with 4oz of water with two scoops formula and then 2oz of milk to make 6oz.  Then each day slowly less water and formula and more milk?? I know this sounds like a really stupid question, but I think i'm over think this. Now I'm confused!!

  • No advice, but I'm confused too! I'm also confused about how much milk I should give him a day.

  • our doc recommended it this way:

switch up from one bottle a day to milk the first week.

the 2nd week, do two bottles a day of milk.

3rd week, 3 bottles of milk

until it's fully incorporated into all bottles as milk.  This is day 3 and so far, so good!
    Good Luck.

  • With my first, I  just went cold turkey.  I used up the last can of formula and then switched completely over to milk.  She was a good eater/drinker, so she didn't have any problems.  Now with my 2nd, she is not a good drinker, so I might mix it if she doesn't accept the cold turkey method.
  • My ped gave us the go ahead to slowly introduce milk early since my girls have been on soy for 9 months. He told us to add milk in addition to the already made formula first. Then 1/3 milk to 2/3 formula for a week then 2/3 milk and 1/3 formula for a week. Then you are on all milk. You can do it by 1/4ths also if your LO is on 8 oz bottles. 6oz prepared formula to 2 oz milk, next week ; 4 oz formula to 4 oz milk, last week ; 2 oz formula to 6 oz milk.
