We used one at a friend's house before. I turned me head for 15 seconds, max, to grab a bottle of water. She had scooted backwards and had a cord in her mouth. And this was a baby-proofed house. The walker simply allowed her to reach things she normally wouldn't.
No thank you. Its not something I find to be worth the risk. Every mom claims they will never take their eyes off their child in one. But can you seriously claim that? NEVER?
I wanted one, but then when I searched for one all of them had reviews where babies got hurt. I couldn't find a single one that didn't have a review without a baby getting hurt. So, I decided to skip it. Sometimes I wish I had one because DS pulls up on EVERYTHING. But I shuddle to think of him falling even more than he does - or cutting open his forehead like some babies did with the walkers I read about.
Yes and right now it is great. He doesn't understand how to use it to move.
I bought it used for $10 in an attempt to have something to interest him while I take a shower or do quick chores. He is a very spirited child and he has outgrown enjoying bouncy seats and will have nothing to do with the exersaucer or door-hanging bouncer. He is already crawling and far more dangerous outside of the walker than inside at this point. We'll reevaluate when that changes.
I don't have one for my apt because i have carpet and i didn't think it would work well here but my sister in law and mother in law both have one and they have tile in most of the rooms and he loves it there. my sister in law has a very open floor plan home and he just goes to town around her house but she doesn't have many nicknacks or anything so he just explores. i don't know the name of the one she has but it is orange and blue and they sell it at walmart and walmart.com
We don't have one. One reason is because we have a small dog, and I fear that DD would run over/hit the dog with it! Our house is also pretty small, so she would just crash into all of the furniture.
Re: Walkers
nope.
