DS's birthday wish

We had a small family birthday party tonight with cake and ice cream.  Just as Sam was about to blow his candles, I told him to make a wish.  He closed his eyes so tight, like he was really wishing, then he looked at me and said, " I love you, Mommy.  I wish, I wish that you never had to go to work again."

Indifferent

I've been picking up more work here and there, still not working all that much, but he obviously is still adjusting, I guess.  Of course he had to say it in front of my MIL, who thinks the only right choice is to SAH.

I almost started crying right then in front of everyone.  Then I gave him a big kiss for having such a loving heart.

  • Oh, my!  What a little heartbreaker you have!  What a sweet (bittersweet?) wish.

  • awww how sweet!

I've been meaning to ask you - has he adjusted to school?  If I remember right, you had a rough drop off one day?  We dealt with the same thing, and it seemed like it would NEVER end, but Jackson's been really into going for the past two weeks and seems much happier about it.  I just wondered how the other October boys were doing.  :)

Yes, he's adjusted now.  That was a hard week, but the following week was much better and drop offs are a breeze now.  They had to peel him off me that one day, which caught me completely off guard, so I really didn't know how to deal with it.  He's made friends and I think that helped a lot.

Have you read The Kissing Hand by Audrey Penn with him?  It probably won't be so useful now since Jackson is over it, but it deals with separation anxiety and going to school and is such a sweet book.

    Thanks for asking!
