my wretched FFFC regarding...gulp....TV

he watches it.

he watches it a lot.

he loves to watch the toddler station with all the barney songs and sprout tv with all the colors and songs.

i feel terrible but it really engages him and he is starting to dance as a result of the musicality of the programs.

he even likes to point to ELMO now and say Melmo!  Sorry, I watched a lot of TV growing up and I know it's not the healthiest so I will look for other alternative things for him...on a side note - his favorite thing in the whole wide world?  BOOKS!

My FFFC is that I am incredibly jealous that tv will hold your LO's attention!  I'd kill to have my DS interested in tv so I could get a few moments peace each day.  He will watch the first 5-7 minutes of Baby MacDonald, but that's it.

Then, I'll tack on to your FFFC with mine. We actually stooped to putting a DVD player in Linc's room. We went into survival mode after he completely stopped sleeping from 6-10 months. We were desperate. So he would watch Princess and the Frog or The Little Mermaid during his 2:00 playtime.

No flames from me...our tv is on all.the.time...even if no one is in the room to watch it!  I don't even feel bad about it, it's always on the kiddie channels anyway, and she usually is playing with something while watching.

I wish the TV would hold my son's attention too.   He is sooo not interested. DD was my only baby who was and she is still my TV junkie.  DS1 didn't really like TV until he was 2 and strapped down in his carseat watching a movie.  They still don't hold his attention long.   DS2 will be like his big brother.

And Karebear, I see you are from Dothan.  I used to live in Enterprise : )

TV doesn't really hold Tegan's attention, but something like Yo Gabba Gabba will hold keep her from complaining if I have to contain her in her exersaucer for a little bit. I'm hoping that as she gets older that she'll be into TV a bit more. There are a TON of educational children's programs out there and I plan on taking full advantage of them!
