I think in the U.S. it would be hard to avoid mispronunciation, but it's not a hard fix. It would only take one time correcting someone. Both pronunciations are inherently there.
Would you be saying it care-oh-leena or car-oh-leena? I met a woman from South America who pronounced it Car-oh-leena with a bit of a roll to the r, and I thought it was absolutely beautiful. Seeing it written down my mind goes to the state though. I do think it would be something you'd have to correct people on frequently, but I like it.
I pronounce it like leena. I think it all depends on your tolerance for correcting people, though. I have ruled this name out because I don't think I have the patience to correct people's pronunciation over and over. I barely have the patience for the occasional folks who call DD "Amelia" instead of "Amalia."
Since I live in South Carolina now, my first thought on seeing it written would be to pronounce it like the state. I think the pronunciation you're going for is beautiful, but I do think a fair amount of people would pronounce it like the state (which gives the name a whole different feel!).

I like it!
I love the -leena pronunciation. I don't think it's a terrible thing to have to correct people every once in awhile.
People botch the easiest names...
i've never heard the name carolina (like the state) before. sure, i've heard of caroline, but never carolina for a person.
i would automatically pronounce it leena because it sounds better.
I really like it!
I say leena pronounciation.
