How would you spell Annabel? And.. what are your thoughts on this name?
I love girl names like Lily, Emily, and Abigail. I'm trying to avoid the most popular of these types of names - although Lily is currently at the top of my list.
Thanks!

Re: Annabel? Anabelle? or....
anabelle.
i love that name!
I prefer the spelling Anabel, but it sounds a little old-fashioned. Would she have a nickname?
I think Annabelle (spelled this way) is lovely! A FB friend has the most beautiful baby named Annabelle, and she just makes me love the name.
Personally, I think Annabelle is the best spelling. It's logical. Anna + Belle = Annabelle.
While I know this isn't the only possible etymology of the name, for English-speakers, it makes the most sense. Annabelle, no matter how it's spelled, SOUNDS like a combined name because we're familiar with the names Anna and Belle. Add to that the huge number of other --belle names, and it just seems silly to spell it any other way in modern English.
While I know Annabel is a legitimate spelling, it just looks incomplete and odd. It reminds me of Hannibal, and it looks like it's trying to hard to be Isabel (FWIW, I know this is the older spelling, but it just doesn't look good.)
I've only seen it as Annabelle. I' taught for 5 years and only knew of 2 little Annabelles. Love the name.
Out of your list I think Lily and Emily are very popular. But- they're all sweet names.
I'd go with Anabel.
I don't like this name, but I typically don't like long super girly names, especially ones that end in bell/belle/bel. It's just a personal preference of mine. Nothing is wrong with the name itself.

Thank you all.
I keep jumping back to Lily, so I think Annabelle (<- this spelling) will go on my list. I'll leave it up to a "what does she look like?" decision (assuming it's a "she", since we're team green).

Not crazy about Annabelle myself... I agree with the person who said it sounds country. Specifically, it sounds like a cow's name to me. But I think i'm thinking of Clarabelle... I think there's a Disney character named that. Regardess, it has the same feel to me.
I like your other names a lot, though! I think we would have named this baby Lily if it weren't for the situation (FIL died 6 days before we found out I was pregnant, so we're naming her after him). I get the concern about popularity, though... it's the one reason I wasn't totally decided about the name Lily.
The name of one of my favorite kiddos! I really like the spelling Annabelle. The other versions just look stilted to me.

love name.
for spelling, Annabelle looks "right" to me. Anna+Belle = Annabelle. I have a friend in UK who just named her daughter this and I think its just lovely.
Annabel or Anabelle look "off".
also love Lily and like Emily.
