When we were little I think it started at 7 or whenever it got dark. Now the 6-8 timeframe seems about right. I won't be surprised if it soon gets moved up to like 5PM and moved to the Saturday before or after Halloween eventually.
There are curfews around me, as in no one is to be out after 8:00pm or something like that, but not a specific time frame that starts and ends. Never heard of that one!
You know what's even MORE bizarre? Towns that designate an entirely different DAY for ToTing! I would have no idea about this if it wasnt for the bump. In my area, ToTing is and has always been after dark on Oct 31.

Yeah I always found this weird. My cousins live in OH and their kids ToTed LAST NIGHT! Crazzzy...I mean I kind of get why they might move it to a Friday or Saturday night since it's not a school night, but why the heck would you set it for a Thursday night 3 days before the real thing?!
I'm the total opposite. I've always had a scheduled Trick or Treat time, so the fact that you don't have one seems SO bizarre to me! It's from 4-7 here, which seems early, but I think it's because it's on a Sunday, and it gets dark here at like 5.
Ours is 5-8pm and on Saturday though in my neighborhood all the kids are young and it's over by 7pm usually. In our town the big Halloween parade is always on Halloween and TOT is the night before.
Growing up (in another town) it was from dark until everyone turned their lights off and we got pillowcases full.

Yep, this! I just realized this was a "thing" last Halloween on the Bump. Where I am, TorTing is always after dark on the 31st (or perhaps closer to dinner time for the really little ones), and there's no limit on the time. If you want the kids to stop coming, you just turn out your porch light.
Re: Are there designated Trick or Treating times where you live?
We didn't have designated times when I was growing up either.
In our city, T or Ting is from 6:00-8:00pm on Sunday. I know there will be people out earlier than that and it'll probably die down closer to 7pm.
