Ugh I'm getting another clogged duct

The last one I had turned into mastitis. Between this and the biting, it may be time to give it up.

Re: Ugh I'm getting another clogged duct

  • It seems like the longer I go with BF the harder it's getting. If I could just shake this guilt, I would have her on a bottle right now. The kid is going to run off with my nipple one of these days, she bites so hard.

I know how you feel. I gave him a bottle for the first time last week (Dr. wants me to supplement so he gains weight - I'm still producing a lot of milk though), and I cried the whole time. This morning he woke up at 4:30 because he peed out of the diaper (see the diaper post below), and I fed him because he wouldn't calm down. He ate one side fine, and then bit the *** out of the other side.

  • During month 3 and 4 of EPing I had clogged ducts BAD.  I'm talking like 2-3 on each side at a time.  I almost gave up so many times.  Now, if I ever feel one coming on, I squeeze my nipple and look for the duct where the milk is really watery.  That's usually the clogged duct.  Then I'd use a clean nail or sterilized needle to scrape away any white stuff.  You may not feel comfortable doing this, but it instantly helps 95% of the time for me.
