DS has a bad cold and it's been about a week of saline and booger sucking and it's not getting any better. I called the pedi this morning and she said the only other thing I can do is elevate his head while he sleeps. She suggested putting a rolled up towel under his mattress. I don't see how this will work considering he is all over the place when he sleeps. He rolls over and sleeps in fetal position. Are there any other ways I can try to keep him elevated while he's sleeping? TIA.

Re: I need suggestions
We live near the coast in Texas which means humidity and that translates into sinus infections being issued to everyone in our house nearly year round.
Emma had a bad cold last month. We were doing the saline, snot sucker, baby vicks, humidifier, pediacare for sinus from the store and she was on anitbiotics. I'm not sure what OTC stuff your pedi will recommend but now that Emma is 10 months old....we had 3 rounds of antibiotics last month alone. We were given samples of allegra, mucinex for children (1/4 of a child's dose every 4 hours) and now we have singulair. I think some children have worse allergies than others.
I asked the pedi about the children's meds and she said for babies you can give it in 1/4-1/2 of the smallest dose depending on the age of the child. Mucinex for children has been awesome. Emma like the fruit flavor and she did have productive coughing. I hope these suggestions prove useful for your baby boy...it's hard watching them suffer.
Colds can last for a while, and unless they have a fever for more than 2-3 days, it's likely viral so antibiotics won't help. It's frustrating-Kaitlyn has had hers for about 3 weeks now. I have just been making sure she's not getting a fever, seeming like she's in pain or having a hard time breathing (not from congestion). If she had any of those symptoms I would take her in again to be checked. I hope your little guy is feeling better soon!
