Adoption

Thinking about adoption, where do we start?

After 2 miscarriages and possible IVF costs, we are considering adoption.  Where do we start to gather information?

Pursing Domestic Infant Adoption through a local agency. In the meantime, our dog is our baby.  Bumping from Portland, Oregon.

Re: Thinking about adoption, where do we start?

  • I am in the same boat as you. I have had 2 losses & IVF costs are way high since we are OOP & the chances of it not working or turning out not how we want, we would like something better.

I just started researching online. I would search on google for adoption agencies in your state, there will be a lot of information out there. I have called many places just to get information on costs, timeline & what they offer. Some places don't return your call or email so I move forward. I've called lawyers in my town to see if they recommend anything as well. GL to you!.

We read both of these as part of our adoption training and both were extremely helpful. It's an overwhelming process at the beginning... choosing an agency and a program (domestic, special needs, international).

    Good luck!
