Okay so I don't care if you DON'T like the name, I just want different opinions between the names listed below-which you like the best out of this, which you think would be more popular, any little tidbit on what your pick would be, we're going to pick one of them, so maybe by hearing other's opinions it will help filter through the one we pick! Thanks in advance ladies!
Ty
Cort
Luke
Van
Kane
Nate
Lane
Re: Help me filter through these names!
Ty - too 80's
Cort - I like this but when I polled people about it couple years ago, everyone hated it. I figured they knew something I didn't.
Luke - Like
Van - my FIL's name. Will always be a sort of older rural sounding name to me.
Kane - horrible
Nate - Like
Lane - I think this is too feminine for a boy.
Ty - A cute nickname but not a good stand alone name. I would prefer Tyson or Tyler (or whatever) and "Ty" as a nn.
Cort - Sounds red-necky to me. Sorry.
Luke - LOVE
Van - Meh. Another nick-namey sounding name.
Kane - NO. For a million reasons (not all Biblical).
Nate - Eh... I love Nathan (nn Nate). But again, you seem to love very short, not quite "finished" names.
Lane - Okay.
Of your names at face value I would pick Luke hands down. If Nate = Nathan I would say that would be a top contender too.
My least faves are Kane and Cort.
Ty- I think it's perfectly fine as a stand alone name. I really hate Tyler and Tyson. Wasn't Tyler on the freakonomics list of names frequently chosen by very poor people?
Cort- Love this name, very classy
Luke- it's fine, nothing special
Van- This name is fine, but it reminds me of that character on that Reba show. kind of an obscure reference though!
Kane- this name looks very trendy in a bad way. it reminds me of names like kayden
Nate- I prefer this as a nickname for nathan
Lane- this looks like a girls name. I have only ever known girls named lane
1. Luke (Love)
2. Nate (Like, prefer as a nickname for Nathan)
3. Ty (Like, prefer as a nickname for Tyler)
4. Kane (ok)
Dislike: Lane (sounds like a girl name to me, female character on the Gilmore Girls), Cort (sounds like a girl name, like it's short for Courtney), Van (sounds like a vehicle)
Ty- It's fine. Not a huge fan, but I don't dislike it. I prefer it as a standalone name, as I hate Tyler and Tyson with a passion.
Cort- Strongly dislike. VERY 1980's soap opera to me.
Luke- Great. Best of the bunch by far.
Van- Like Ty, it's fine. Don't love, don't hate.
Kane- this name looks very trendy in a bad way. it reminds me of names like kayden. (I copied that comment from a PP, but I 100% agree)
Nate- Not a fan. It's a classic, strong name (as a nn for Nathan) but I've never liked it for some reason.
Lane- Very feminine
Ty - all I think is Ty Pennington. ew.
Cort - like Courtney?
Luke - I love this name, but it's verrrry popular
Van - a name of a former student who was a little terror
Kane - just can't get behind this one
Nate - love it
Lane - it's okay.
I actually like the name Van. I always have.
Not a fan of Cort at all. Gynecort, cortisone, all I think of is itch. Even the name Cortney does this for me when spelled that way, instead of Courtney.
Oscar born October 2011
Miscarriage at 8 weeks (August 2013)
DD due September 1, 2014
Ty, Cort, Nate - all look like nicknames.
Luke - best of the bunch. Love Luke!
Van - Not terrible.
Kane - Just looks like a misspelling of the first murderer in the Bible.
Lane - Too wussy for a guy.
I tend to prefer using full names. I really like Tyler (Ty) and Luke. I don't mind Nate, but I'd probably go with Nathan as the full name.
I can honestly say the rest are just NMS. I've never heard of Cort- I can only think of Courtney (girl).
Ty - I like it. Sounds like a cowboy's name.
Cort - Nickname for Courtney to me, so nms
Luke - Love
Van - Totally love this but I wouldn't use it. You have to have a really good last name for this to work.
Kane - Not a fan of the spelling, but I don't mind Cain
Nate - Love
Lane - A little too preppy for me, but not bad.
Ty- it's fine, I find it a little boring
Cort- I like this name
Luke- Like
Van- Dislike
Kane- eh, I don't mind the name but not a fan of K names for boys
Nate- really, really dislike Nate, especially for a standalone name
Lane- it's ok but I agree that it's a little girly
Ty - dislike, makes me think ty-rone-shoelaces
Cort - dislike, makes me think girl courtney
Luke - love
Van - really like
Kane - evil, cain and abel
Nate - cute
Lane - too sissy for a boy
Ty - don't care for on it's own. I know one, and it's a chopped name to me. Too short to be a stand alone.
Cort - don't care for on it's own or as part of the full name, Cortland. Sounds like the words, cork and court. That said, it's probably one of my favorites of your options.
Luke - LOVE - this is my favorite. Not only does it have excellent connotations, but it doesn't seem like it's missing something.
Van - Meh...this was a part of my maiden name, so I don't see it as a first name so much...just seems odd to me. That said, I like it much better than Kane.
Kane - my least favorite: I hate trendy Ks, despite this being a real name....it looks like a trendy spelling.
Nate - s'okay....sort of a middle ground between being too nick name-y and being a full name on it's own.
Lane - like
