How to get LO back on a "schedule"?

DS was on a schedule where he'd go to sleep at the same time give or take an hour and he'd wake up around the same time.  Since DH came home from Afghan everything is completley different which I knew would happen.  He's been home about 3 weeks so I thought he would go back but he hasn't.  He went to sleep around 7:30 and woke up at 11 bright eyed and bushy tailed.  Almost like it was just a nap.

I will not let him CIO for long periods of time.  I've let him CIO for about 10 minutes when I knew nothing was wrong and it was torture.

I am at a loss on what to do.  I let the vaccum run for about 5 minutes and then when I turn it off he wake up. :(

  • Weird.

Some ideas (you've probably already tried some)

Maybe it's a growth spurt??  Is he hungry?

An earlier bed time to try to reset his little clock.

    Another nap during the day.

A bedtime routine involving dad if possible??

Try ferber if you're comfortable with it (gentler than just CIO - but only really works if LO is actually waking up and still tired)

    GL!

  • I agree with some ideas from the PP.  I would feed him if he's hungry.  But most of all: any "off scheduling" generally corrects itself over time.  I wrote a few weeks ago about how my LO decided to wake up at 5am (also bright eyed, as if we should all start our day then) rather than 6:30 or 7am.  I was freaking, but over the course of 3-4 weeks, he has gone back.  I know it doesn't help to say 'Give it time', but as dad acclimates, so will your entire family.  Good luck, I know how frustrating it can be.
