I feed Lily everything except tree nuts. She's had yogurt, veggies, fruits, meats, pizza, grilled cheese and even *gasp* french fries and chicken nuggets.
It's OK, though. I'm alright with flames. Do your worst.
I'm willing to try anything and everything save for the five things my ped specifically said to wait on- nuts, fish, cow's milk, eggs and honey. I know lots of mamas do eggs, but I gotta listen to my ped. That is what I pay her for, ya know?

Oh lord I am in the same boat. Jack has had almost everything. When he was 6.5mo's old DH husband gave him a bite of PB&J while I was turned around not knowing the risks. Jack loved it and was fine. We only skip honey and sweets. He will get an occasional animal cracker or a snip bit of cake (no icing). Other than that I am pretty relaxed, but then again no one in our family's have food allergies.

We are finally moving towards the everything type rule. We are going to stay away from nuts and honey. He has had egg yolk and fish and loved both.
We do BLW and he doesn't really get anything out of his list of okay things. I think the only outside things he has had is Olive Garden Bread and Enchiladas.

The flu shot has egg whites in it, did you know that? I always knew that you're not supposed to get it if you're allergic to eggs, but it didn't dawn on me until I had Nathan and my pedi told me.
I'm totally on board with you. I don't want my kid to fill up on crap, but you know what? She sees me eating it. Nows as good a time as any to learn moderation.
DAAAAAAM you took my FFFC. No joke. I was going to post that I am being really bad and giving Sam stuff she shouldn't technically be having. I gave her corn on the cob the other day and then later found out that she shouldn't have that for another 4-6 months (at the 10-12 month mark). I also have been kinda sliding on the 4 day wait period too to see if she has a reaction. I have been changing up food about every 2 days. I also have given her Butternut Ravioli, and bread but it was pumpkin/pecan bread. She loved both. On Saturday I have a Halloween party where they will be serving soup and I totally plan on giving Sam some of my Soup. I am making Pumpkin soup. We have no allergies on both sides of our family so I am not too worried about it.
I don't really care what you feed your kid. I don't think you're making the smartest choices, but I don't think you're going to cause her any serious problems. I am just shaking my head because if someone else less "popular" on these boards had posted this, it would have been flamed to hell and back.

ETA: As would have your P&P post farther up.
this is exactly, exactly, exactly what i was thinking. i love it how some people can post sh** they do and basically have it praised instead of flamed.
i dont really care myself what you do either but I think others would have gotten flamed for this.
the one thing I dont like is: italianvie(forgot the whole name) i dont think its cool youre sliding on waiting a few days to see if your child has a reaction.
I don't wait for a reaction either, whats the point if I give her pizza and she has a reaction I'm not going to know what she is allergic to anyway (tomatoes, cheese, pepperoni). We have no allergies in either of our families and she has never had a reaction to anything so I'm not worried about it.

We have held off on a few items b/c of DH's history of allergies (MIL has them too). So far Snuggle doesn't have any, but I am still hesitant to be too adventurous.

thats why you try each of those things separately. are you serious??
ETA: like i said, i dont really cae what you do, i think thats just not a good idea. if there WAS an allergic reaction, youd have to elimiate ALL the new things your LO had that day and work from there... I just dont see why you wouldnt wait- it doesnt seem like a hard thing to do so thats why I dont get it why some of you dont.
All the info I've ever received from the health clinic, and doctors office, and those brochure things that Nestly and whoever send out, is that a 2 day waiting period in between new foods is fine. Therefore it should be ok, especially if there is no food allergies. As long as you have given it to them a couple of times, then you should be ok.

it's your choice, but it seems stupid to give your child some of those things especially at this age when you can still control what they eat without it being a fight.

If you read my post I wait about 2 days. On the website wholesomebabyfoods.com it recommends a 4 day rule. I haven't done that every time. And I have never given my baby pizza. I bend the rules a little but not that much. Personally I think it's a b--- move to call me out when so many others have agreed with the OP and do the same but whatev.

We wait about 2 days, too, IV.
As for "controlling what they eat"...I fed Nathan the same exact way as a baby and I have no problems with him only eating junk food. He loves veggies (his favorite snack is carrots without ranch) and fruits. Does he eat french fries? Sure. But, we've taught him that it's an occasional treat.
I don't want to be the mom that has the "Do as I say, not as I do" attitude towards eating. She sees me eating it, she wants it, too. Eventually I'll have to explain why it's different for me than it is for her and I don't want to have to do that.
In fact, feeding Lily and Nathan the same things I eat has encouraged me to eat healthier because it keeps me from eating junk food 7 days a week. If I know I have to feed it to my kids, too, I'm more likely to choose something healthy.

Well, just to clarify...I have no problem with pizza, fries and nuggets. My 2 1/2 year old eats those things on occassion. My 7-month old, however, does not. They are not even remotely appropriate at this age and that's the problem I have with your confession.

So what is the "magic age" at which junk food becomes appropriate? I say this not with snark, but with a sincere curiousity. I put the confession out there and I don't mind being flamed for it. It's not going to change how I feed my kids.
It's not like we eat pizza for dinner every night. Most nights it some form of steak or chicken with a veggie or two.
But, when we have pizza or fast food, she gets some.
Hotsauce - the quoting was getting out of hand, so I'll just respond to your last comment.
It has nothing to do with it being junk food per se and more with their digestive systems being too immature to properly handled the grease and fat associated with pizza and fries. Not to mention the choking hazard issue. They need to have a good grasp on chewing and swallowing before I'd given any finger foods that aren't easily mashed with their gums or dissolve easily in their mouths. I think DS was probably 18 months before he had "junk food". Before that it was all soft crackers and over-ripe fruit type of stuff.
HS: I just don't understand giving a kid junk food before they can even ask for it. I don't get the point of purposefully giving your kids junk, especially at that age. Of course its never good, but the occasional treat once they are old enough to ask and appreciate I understand. I just don't see the point of giving a kid "crap" who is under a year (or 2 even). Its so easy at this age to make sure they eat healthy since they don't know any differently. I don't get why people are so quick to push unhealthy foods on their kids.
Thats all I have the energy for today. DD was up all night.

I guess my only excuse is lazy parenting. Seriously.
DH and I both work 10 hour days and I'm a full time student. By the time we get to dinner it's all we can do to make one dinner, making something different just isn't in the timetable. Especially since we don't get home until 7:00 most nights. (Later when I work until 8.) She won't eat purees for dinner because she doesn't like to wait for us to take a bite and then give her a bite. We save purees for daycare and weekend lunches. We eat dinner as a family every night (unless I work until 8 and she's in bed before I get home) so feeding her early is not an option. I'd rather give her a few bites of chicken nuggets once in awhile than not eat dinner with her.
Like I said above, most of the time we grill chicken or steak and she eats that along with whatever veggies we're eating. But, occasionally we throw a tray of chicken nuggets and french fries or a pizza in the oven for dinner for all of us.
Yep. It's laziness. But, if occasional laziness is my biggest fault as a parent, I'll take it.
see I think thats the difference between you and DIane. You acknowledge its not ideal. I can respect that. The only time I get up in arms on here about something is if someone defends it to the death.

No flames.
Now I just really want some grilled cheese and pizza.
We'll totally use it! This child inhales everything.
