Cloth Diapering

Talk to me about Fuzzi Bunz

I am at my wits end trying to find a pocket diaper to fit my large baby.  He is hefty all around and 30 pounds at 11 months.  He is wearing 2T pants.  He's outgrown our BG 3.0s and the Knickernappies I just ordered (and spent $50 on, I might add), don't fit him well at all.

I have a shot at buying some XL Fuzzi Bunz, which the manufacturer says are for 45+ pounds.  Anyone have any experience with this size?  Anyone know if the "perfect size" Fuzzi Bunz run true to size or small?

And while I'm at it, other than another one-size diaper, anyone have any suggestions they'd like to float my way for a decent pocket diaper?  (We usually use prefolds and covers at home--just looking for something for nighttime and out and about).

Re: Talk to me about Fuzzi Bunz

  • Awww he's adorable! I would say that FB perfect size run true to size. I just got some mediums and they have plenty of room to grow for my 17 pounder and they say they fit 15- 30 lbs.

I'm not sure what else to suggest for him since my LO isn't that big yet, though she is a chunker! I know some people have had luck with the BG 4.0s when their LOs had outgrown the BG 3.0s since the 4.0s are bigger in rise, though I can't speak from personal experience on that.

  • My LO is in the size small but I do find that it's true to size.  It fits her well and is trim.

  • I obviously haven't fitted a baby that big yet (although I'm afraid I may have to, as she's wearing 6-9 clothing already!) but Happy Heinys seem to run pretty big. I can fit her into them all the way snapped down, although on the second snap is better and I have two more to go before it's completely unsnapped.

I've also heard that Kawaiis run big.

Yeah, all of those are one-sizes, but at least the Kawaiis are cheap?

I've heard excellent things about the FB perfect sizes, though. I haven't received my mediums yet so no personal experience.

  • We are still in small FB perfect size and they seem to run true to size. I think the smalls go up to 18ish lbs and she is 16 and still has room to grow in them.  I really like them.

  • Contact Squeezie Cheeks.  She is a WAHM on hyenacart and makes great diapers.  She has a small 1 year old but a normal sized 4 year old that she tries everything on for comparison.  You can also check her out on facebook.

I would go with a sized option rather than a one size, since he is already so big.  His growth is going to slow down a lot.  I got all mediums and medium-longs and tried them on my 3.5 year old as well and am hoping they will get us to potty learning, as they fit him.  I would think a size large would be good for you.  Disclaimer - I just started CDing in September, so I have no experience diapering a larger toddler (my baby is 24 pounds).

  • Oh, and I would worry an XL would be too big with leg gaping, etc.
  • Don't get the XL. I bought DS a L and it is huge on him DS is 28lbs and 34in and there is no way for him to fit even the L I need to get rid of it. I use the OS FB on him and it still set on 3 so I don't know if they run large or what but I have heard most kids do M from a young age and fit through PLing.

  • I have a OS HH that has been sued once that I am selling if you are interested! let me know. Or if you would like we could trade....I really wanted to try the Knickernappies OS.
