Putting a carseat in a truck?

Just a regular truck that has no backseat area.

Is this legal or safe to put a carseat in the front passenger seat of a truck?

  • It is legal.  You have to disable the airbag (there is a spot on the front console to do this).  Check the truck owner's manual.

  • Okay.

I just don't know how I feel about it, even though it's legal.  It's my kid, you know?

  • If it were my kid I wouldn't be comfortable letting them ride in the front seat, airbag or not.  If there was no other option I guess I would allow it, but I honestly would exhaust every other option before letting my kid ride like that.

I have never done it.  I would probably only do it in an emergency situation.

  • E's ridden in DH's truck a couple of times. I don't want it to happen all the time, but the airbag is disabled, so I'm okay with it.
  • Before we had our 2nd my husband drove a pick up truck with no back seat.  You had to turn off the air bag with the ignition key by the dash board.
  • Everyone already gave you the suggestions I was going to.  :D
